July 19, 2003Fitness blog #9Weight:: 166 lbs Stagnant weight is probably due to all the nuts I’ve been eating. They are fine in Atkins, but can be very addictive. I think I will cut back if I can resist the temptation. I have also “discovered” low carb bars, Atkins and other brands. Not that tasty, but tempting and convenient. Also not cheap: there is on bar seen in many NYC delis for about $3. The Atkins bars are cheaper (about $1.30) but only seen in speciality shops. Of course the chocolate is relatively low quality; I got a much richer flavor with my homemade attempt. Another cause of my steady weight may be the fact that I have started lifting again. It’s hard to tell if it’s making any difference but I do feel quite a bit better. Still getting the hang of things; doing whichever exercises seem appropriate at they time. I should note that it is absolutely necessary to get adequate sleep after one lifts. I didn’t last week and was absurdly exhausted and had sore muscles for 4 days. This week was much better. Jim links to another diet blogger, Avram Grumer. After reading the linked entry about looking for a gym and then looking at his user info I realized that he lives in my neighborhood. Small world. Sorry I can’t offer you any gym advice Avram, but if you see a bearded balding man running to and from the hudson river it’s probably me. It’s a beautiful day out and I am going to do some biking. I am new to the internet and I am surfing here and this is very interesting reading. I did a search in the search engines on "pub bar entertainment blog" and I found your web blog and although Atkins bar" isnot the bar I was looking for, it was very interesting reading. thanks for the insight B.
